Article 100

This Cable is identified for underground use it’s covering is moisture resistant, but not required to be flame retardant and it isn’t suitable for indoor use

Underground Feeder, and branch circuit cable (Type UF)

A factory assembly of insulated conductors with an integral or an overall covering of non-metallic material suitable for direct burial in the Earth

Circuit breaker

A device designed to be opened and closed manually, but opens automatically during an overcurrent event without damage to itself

Adjustable circuit breaker

Adjustable circuit breakers can be set to trip at various values of current time or both within a pre-determined range

Inverse time circuit breaker

This type of circuit breaker is purposely designed to delay its tripping action during an overcurrent condition. The intent is to compensate for the inrush of current during the normal startup of equipment.

A rigid non-metallic raceway of circular cross-section with indigo or associated couplings, connectors and fittings listed for the insulation with electrical conductors

Continuous load

A load where the maximum current is expected for three hours or more continuously

Controller

A device that controls the electric power delivered to electrical equipment and some predetermined manner this includes motor starters, time, clocks, lighting, contractors, photo cells, and equipment with similar functions

Flexible cord

Two or more insulated conductors, enclosed in a flexible covering

A conducting object used to make a direct electrical connection to the Earth

-Subject to saturation with water and other liquids

-in concrete slabs or masonry indirect contact with the Earth

Luminaire

Neutral point

The common point of a four wire, three phase, wye-Connected system. The midpoint of a three wire, Single phase system, Or the midpoint of a single phase portion of a three, Delta connected system

A load where the shape of the current waveform does not follow the shape of the applied voltage waveform
