What are the requirements for facility clocks per DAFMAN 13-204v3?

A reliable clock showing hours, minutes and seconds, must be visible from each control position. Facilities without a direct coded time source must obtain a time check at the beginning of each shift

What is the official source for time checks?

From IFR facilities with a coded time source, the U.S Naval observatory, and the GPS receiver from STARS.

What is abbreviated time?

Abbreviated time is given from the separate digits of the minutes only.

How do you issue a time check?

The word “TIME” followed by the four separate digits of the hours, minutes and nearest quarter minute

What are the facility clock procedures for power outages

If the facility loses power, clocks will be checked immediately after the facility goes on backup power and checked again after 30 minutes, if they are found to be inaccurate check clocks hourly until commercial power is restored.
