Newtons 1st law
An object in motion stays in motion. An object would only change its motion or direction if an external force is applied F=MA Force equals mass times acceleration
Newtons 2nd law
Force causes an object to accelerate. This also works for deceleration because a force in the opposite direction will slow down the object
Newtons 3rd law
Every action has an equal or opposite reaction, if you push something an equal push will come back to you
Ways for motion to change
start moving
Stop moving
Speed up
Slow down
Change direction
Speed
how fast an object is moving in any direction
Velocity
speed in a certain direction and is measured in cm/s or cms per second
Variables
Independent- will change in test
Dependent- the result and will be observed
Control- the thing that won’t change
Force measurements
Force is measured in newton
Collisions
2 objects hitting each other, when hit the object will experience the same force in opposite directions
Friction
The opposite force to an object that is moving
Speed formula
Distance divided by time
