TN (Twisted Nematic)
Fast response time but poor color reproduction and narrow viewing angles; common in budget and gaming monitors.
IPS (In-Plane Switching)
Provides the best color accuracy and widest viewing angles; preferred for professional work such as graphic design and video editing.
VA (Vertical Alignment)
Offers high contrast ratios and better color than TN panels but slower response times; frequently used in televisions.
OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode)
Self-emissive pixels that deliver excellent color and contrast, thin and flexible screens, but susceptible to burn-in.
Plasma
Obsolete heavy display technology once known for good color and contrast but high power consumption.
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)
Umbrella term for flat-panel displays that require a backlight; includes TN, IPS, and VA panel types.
LED (LED-backlit LCD)
An LCD that uses LED backlighting, making it slimmer and more energy-efficient; the most common modern display type.
Projector
Device that projects video onto a surface; brightness is rated in lumens, enabling large portable displays.
CRT (Cathode Ray Tube)
Legacy technology with large, heavy tubes once used in older monitors and TVs.
Lumens
Measurement unit for projector brightness; higher lumens indicate a brighter projected image.
