MIKAEL. Don’t you think if I could I would?! I love Shakespeare! I don’t
want to be sleeping.
CROWD MEMBER. Why don’t you just let him sleep on your shoulder?
He seems like a nice boy.
CAROL. No! It’s a violation of my personal space and . . . no!
CROWD MEMBER. Look, you’re being a huge distraction. The sooner
you let him nap on your shoulder, the sooner we can get back to watching
the play and—
CAROL. Me! I’m distracting?! But he . . . he’s the one who wanted to take
a nap on me!
CROWD MEMBER. And that doesn’t bother me!
CAROL. Aahh! Fine. I . . . If I’m the problem then . . . I’ll just leave!
Okay. I’ll leave!
CROWD MEMBER. Good riddance, if you ask me.
MIKAEL. I just wanted to take a nap.
CROWD MEMBER. Understandable. It’s a long play.
NARRATOR. (MIKAEL takes a seat. They start watching.)
CROWD MEMBER. You’re welcome to take a nap on my shoulder if you
like.
MIKAEL. Actually, I don’t even think I’m tired anymore. All that yelling .
. . I’m wide awake.
CROWD MEMBER. Well, if you change your mind, you’re more than
welcome to. I feel like my shoulder is pretty soft. All things considered.
MIKAEL. I will keep that in mind.
CROWD MEMBER. I think I’m lonely.
