Dollar Diplomacy
Foreign policy created under President Taft that had the U.S. exchanging financial support for the right to "help" countries make decisions about trade and other commercial ventures.
-Basically it was exchanging money for political influence in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Espionage act
prohibited obtaining information, recording pictures, or copying descriptions of any information relating to the national defense with intent or reason to believe that the information may be used for the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation.

secret message from Germany to Mexico, threatening to act together against America. Helps lead U.S. toward war with Germany.
