AP World History is a college-level course that provides high school students with an understanding of global history from approximately 8000 BCE to the present.

The main themes include interactions between humans and the environment, development and interaction of cultures, state-building, expansion, and conflict, and economic systems.
What periods are covered in AP World History?
AP World History is divided into six periods: Technological and Environmental Transformations (to c. 600 BCE), Organization and Reorganization of Human Societies (c. 600 BCE to c. 600 CE), Regional and Transregional Interactions (c. 600 CE to c. 1450), Global Interactions (c. 1450 to c. 1750), Industrialization and Global Integration (c. 1750 to c. 1900), and Accelerating Global Change and Realignments (c. 1900 to the present).
What skills are developed in AP World History?
Students develop skills such as critical thinking, analyzing historical documents, making connections across different time periods and regions, and formulating well-supported historical arguments.
