What is a dot plot?
A number line with dots that show data.
What is frequency in the context of data?
The number of times data occurs.
What is a frequency table?
A table showing how often each value (or group of values) in a set of data occurs.
What is relative frequency?
The percentage of time each data point occurs.
What is the first step in making a dot plot and frequency table?
Draw a number line with values, using a scale relevant to the data.
What is the second step in making a dot plot and frequency table?
For each value in the data, draw a dot on the number line. The number of dots above each value corresponds to its frequency.
What is the third step in making a frequency table?
Create a table showing each data value and its frequency (number of occurrences/dots).
How to calculate relative frequency?
Divide the frequency of each data point by the total number of data points, and then multiply by 100 to get percentage.
