Joint
Where 2 or more bones meet. (Allow for movement & stability)
Joint Capsule
DENSE, fibrous connective tissue that surrounds a synovial joint = holds joints in place & stability
Synovial Membrane
Connective tissue lining the inner surface of a joint capsule of a synovial joint, which produces synovial fluid
Synovial Fluid
Found in a synovial cavity to allow for lubrication of the join. (Reduces friction between bones and allows movement)
Ligament
Tough flexible connective tissue that holds bones + cartilage & joints together = stability
Cartilage
Strong, flexible connective tissue that cushions joints & bones together = stability
Tendon
Tough, flexible fibrous connective tissue that connects muscles to bones = movement of bone
Bursae
Small, fluid filled sacs found between bone & soft tissue, bones & tendons, and/or muscles around joints = cushioning and reduction in friction between moving parts
