Canaan

The promised land where God intended to dwell with His people

Noahic Covenant

God’s unconditional promise to Noah, his descendants, and every living creature after the flood (Genesis 9:8-17). God vows never again to destroy all life with a flood, ensuring the stability of seasons and natural order for human flourishing. Sealed by the rainbow as a sign of divine faithfulness despite human sin.

Sovereignty

God’s supreme authority and rule over all creation, history, and human events, as seen throughout Genesis- from the orderly creation (Gen 1), the Flood (Gen 6-9) Joseph’s rise despite betrayal (Gen 50:20), to the unfolding of His promises.

Circumcision

Physical sign of Abrahamic Covenant (Genesis 17:9-14): every male circumcised on the eighth day, symbolizing removal of sin’s corruption and full commitment to God’s promises.

Land- In order to dwell with God

Family- offspring of Eve

Blessing- God will bless the world with the nation of Israel to bring salvation from this family.

Cursing- God will curse those who reject His people.

Elohim

God the Creator, mighty one (Trinity)

Yahweh

The personal name of God revealed to Moses, emphasizing God’s presence and covenant relationship with Israel.

Theophany

A temporary, visible manifestation of the invisible God to human senses, usually to reveal his presence, character, or will in a particular moment (for example, the burning bush in Exodus 3 or the Lord descending on Sinai in fire and cloud in Exodus 19).

Patriarchs

The founding fathers of Israel: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Genealogy

Records of family lineages, which track the descendants of Adam, Noah, Abraham, and others; these show the origins of nations and the unfolding of God’s plan.
