What is a term in algebra?
A term refers to the variables and numbers in a mathematical expression that is separated by a + or Minus sign ONLY.
What is a variable?
Variables are all the unknowns in the expression, represented by letters.
What is a constant?
A constant is a number without a variable attached to it, which constantly stays the same.
What is a coefficient?
A coefficient is a number written alongside a variable (multiplied by the variable).
What is an exponent?
An exponent is the number a number/variable is raised to.
What does BODMAS stand for?
BODMAS stands for Brackets, Operations, Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction.
What is the rule for collecting like terms?
Collect like terms that have exactly the same variables and exponents; add/subtract coefficients only.
What is the distributive property?
The distributive property involves multiplying a single term/sign outside the bracket to each term inside the bracket.
What should you do first in division of expressions?
Put the equation into a fraction then, if possible, simplify the numerator and denominator.
