1920s economically
after WW1, during the 1920s, American prospered economically.
faster production through assembly lines
government policy, such as less taxes, less government regulation, and less enforcement of antitrust laws
consumer economy, where people bought items for popularity rather then need
use of electricity
however, no regulation meant a greater gap between the rich and the poor

Americans bought more then ever before
this is because Americans were buying due to the popularity rather than need. Products, such as home appliances, cars, were all consumer items, those that are wants and popular.

put on trial for something that the country was not sure if they did
symbol of nativism and prejudice for immigrants (which they were)
after WW1, immigrants started to increase again, and the nativism hate continued
Causes for Great Depression
immediate cause: stock market crash. at the peak economically, a drop in stocks, caused everyone to pull out there money

President Hoover
during the first years of the great depression, President Hoover among others believed that it the depression would pass, leading to his ease and lack of government regulation
overtime, he realized he needed to do something and started enacting policies
however, his policies weren’t enough and it was the end of his term

represents the many conflicts during the Great Depression
group of veterans who demanded for there payment that was said to be given for their work in WW1. but it was supposed to be given later on
FDR
President Franklin D. Roosevelt believed in the 3R’s. Reform, recovery, and relief.
First 100 Days
The plan, the New Deal, brought about much major legislative change and government regulation
in his first 100 days, he passed many major legislation that hoped to follow his 3 R’s.
Animosity toward FDR
still people believed his new deal was bad
Huey Long believed in direct relief
Townsend believed in old man pension
Coughlin believed in socialism
Life during the Great Depression
farmers had a dust bowl (migrating, known as okies)
with the men out searching for jobs, women also did to survive, however recieved lower wages
African Americans, discriminated, left out of benefits from new deal, and still had low paying jobs
not much change for African Americans
