Virchow technique
he organs are removed one by one (individually) and dissected as they are removed from the bodY
Rokitansky technique
→ Organs are removed based on convenience → Removal is done partly en bloc
→ Dissection is done in situ or in the original place
→ The pathologies are correlated
En masse (Le Tulle) technique
(all at one time) removal of organs of the thoracic cavity, abdominal cavity, and pelvic area; and later dissected into organs blocks → Preserves the blood supply as well as the relationship of the organs to each other → The cadaver can be released immediately
En bloc (Ghon/Zenker) technique
The physically related organs (organ bloc) are removed at the same time (e.g., the thoracic block, the celiac block, the urogenital block) → Preserves the anatomic relationship among organs without the unwieldy mass of organs → The organs comprising a bloc are removed from the cadaver, examined grossly, weighed and measured.
