What is imperialism and how did it push Europe towards war?
Imperialism is when a country takes over other lands to build an empire. European countries were competing for colonies, which caused tension and rivalry that helped lead to war.
How was Archduke Ferdinand involved in starting WWI?
Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was assassinated in 1914. His death triggered alliances to go to war, starting WWI.
Who were the main Allied powers during WWI?
Great Britain, France, Russia (until 1917), and later the United States.

Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria.

The Lusitania was a British ship sunk by a German submarine, and 128 Americans died. This made Americans angry and moved them closer to joining the war.

Germany told Mexico they would help it get land back from the U.S. if Mexico joined the war. It was meant for Mexico, but Britain intercepted it and gave it to the U.S.
What were the advantages and disadvantages of trench warfare?
Advantages: protection from enemy fire. Disadvantages: bad conditions, disease, little movement, and lots of deaths.
