Police Training:

provides the new officer with the basic skills required to perform the job

Police academy and higher education

High amounts of authoritarianism among police can be

problematic for public interactions

Psychometric testing (MMPI or M-PULSE)

can screen out undesirable personality characteristics 

Police Officer Standards and Training (POST)

 for the licensure of peace officers, reserve peace officers, and basic training instructors
