Deoxygenated Blood
Blood that has delivered its oxygen to the body tissues and is returning to the heart.
Right Atrium
The chamber of the heart that receives deoxygenated blood from the body.
Tricuspid Valve
The valve that allows blood to flow from the right atrium to the right ventricle.
Right Ventricle
The chamber of the heart that pumps deoxygenated blood to the pulmonary arteries.
Pulmonary Semilunar Valve
The valve that controls blood flow from the right ventricle into the pulmonary arteries.
Pulmonary Arteries
Blood vessels that carry deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs.
Pulmonary Veins
Blood vessels that carry oxygenated blood from the lungs back to the heart.
Left Atrium
The chamber of the heart that receives oxygenated blood from the lungs.
Mitral Valve
The valve that allows blood to flow from the left atrium to the left ventricle.
Left Ventricle
The chamber of the heart that pumps oxygenated blood into the aorta.
Aortic Valve
The valve that controls blood flow from the left ventricle into the aorta.
Aorta
The largest artery in the body that distributes oxygenated blood to the body tissues.
Capillaries
Small blood vessels where the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide occurs.
Inferior and Superior Vena Cavae
Major veins that drain deoxygenated blood back into the right atrium.
