MRSA
type of bacteria that causes infection that does not respond to common antibiotics, including methicillin, amoxicillin, and penicillin. most methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus infections occur on the skin.
AIDS
acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is an ongoing chronic condition. it is caused by HIV.
VRE
are a type of bacteria present in the gastrointestinal tract that develops resistance to many antibiotics especially vancomycin. it is spread from person to person or from contaminated surfaces and can cause severe infections.

united states federal government agency whose mission is to protect the public health by preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability.
Fomites
inanimate objects that can carry and spread disease and infectious agents. can also be called passive vectors.
Petechiae
pinpoint round spots that form on the skin. caused by bleeding which makes the spots look purple, brown, or red
Nosocomial infection
infection you get when youre in the hospital for a different reason. also called hospital acquired infection or health care assoicated infection
