What are the four factors that affect photosynthesis?
Light intensity, carbon dioxide, temperature and chlorophyll
What are the factors that affect the levels of chlorophyll within an individual plant?
Disease, lack of nutrients and environmental stress
What happens if the levels aren’t at optimum?
If the levels aren’t at optimum the chloroplasts will get damaged, reducing the amount of chlorophyll they have
What happens when light intensity increases?
The rate of photsynthesis increases as well
Why does the line eventualy plateau?
It means something else is limiting it, such as CO2 and temperature
What happens when carbon dioxide increases?
The more CO2 a plant can get the higher the rate of photosynthesis similar to light intensity it eventually plateaus and a different factor becomes limiting
What happens when temperature increases?
There is a rise initially but the rate starts to drop at 45 celsius when the enzymes are fully denatured
What are the conditions enzyme do and don’t work in?
Enzymes work more quickly as molecules move faster in higher temperatures but they will begin to denature eventually
