INPUTS
All the resources you use, such as electricity, glass, food, water, plastic, paper, gas, and textiles.
OUTPUTS
Anything you produce, including heat, light, water, sewage, noise, health, and rubbish.
LANDFILL
A site for the disposal of waste materials by burying them in the ground.
INCINERATION
The process of burning waste materials in huge machines to reduce their volume.
RECYCLING
The process of converting waste materials into new products, thus reducing the amount being sent to landfills.
WyeCycle
A recycling scheme developed in Wye, Kent, that significantly reduced waste by processing both organic and non-organic materials.
POPULATION DENSITY
The number of people living per unit area, which affects how areas are developed or inhabited.
URBAN ENVIRONMENT
A built-up area surrounding a city with high population density and numerous structures.
RURAL ENVIRONMENT
A large area with very few buildings and a low population density.
PRIMARY ACTIVITIES
Industries involved in the extraction and production of raw materials, like agriculture and mining.
SECONDARY ACTIVITIES
Involves the processing of raw materials into finished goods, such as manufacturing.
TERTIARY ACTIVITIES
The provision of services that improve quality of life, such as healthcare and tourism.
DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT
A government system where eligible citizens can vote to choose representatives.
CONSTITUENCIES
Small electoral areas whose voters elect a Member of Parliament (MP) to represent them.
