what is the method for titration

  • 25cm cubed of NaOH into a conical flask

  • add 5 drops of indicator

  • fill the biuret up to 0.0 with acid

  • slowly drip the acid into the conical flask and swirl until it changes colour

  • once its changed colour measure and record the volume

2
New cards

what is molar gas volume

the volume occupied by 1 mole of molecules of any gas

3
New cards

what to calculate volume of gas

volume of gas = amount of gas x molar gas volume (24dm cubed or 24000)

4
New cards

what does exothermic mean

getting hotter

New cards
6
New cards

what is the method to make ammonia

  • nitrogen and hydrogen are pumped through pipes

  • pressure is increased to 200 atmospheres

  • the gases are heated at 450 degrees celius and passed through a tank of iron catalyst

  • the mixture is cooled and the ammonium liquifies and is removed

7
New cards

making nitric acid

ammonia + oxygen ——> nitric acid + water

8
New cards

making sulfuric acid

sulfur + oxygen —→ sulphur trioxide

sulphur trioxide + water ——> sulphuric acid

9
New cards

what are advantages of hydrogen-oxygen fuel cells

  • water is produced

  • oxygen won’t run out

  • don’t need to replace a abttery

  • quieter

10
New cards

what are the disadvantages of hydrogen-oxygen fuel cells

  • must have hydrogen, but its explosive

  • hydrogen is a finite resource

  • expensive

  • not many suitable stations
