The remedy to racist discrimination

"The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination" (19) And in order to treat some persons equally, we must treat them differently

Say "racism"

"Only racists shy away from the R-word - racism is steeped in denial

biological equality

"To be antiracist is to recognize the reality of biological equality, that skin color is as meaningless to our underlying humanity as the clothes we wear over that skin" (54)

cultural difference

"When we see cultural difference, we are seeing cultural difference - nothing more, nothing less." (91)

the policy not the person

"Going after White people instead of racist power prolongs the policies harming Black life" (131)

Detaching people and the problem: "They had a problem with homophobia, not with heterosexuals. They had a problem with patriarchy, not with men" (200)

integration is assimilationist

Integration was a one-way street: the minority assimilated into the majority. "Only white culture could be neutral and objective. Only white culture could be nonracial." Integration (into Whiteness) became racial progress" (178)
