Vector Addition Formula
The formula used to find the magnitude of the resultant vector R given by R=A2+B2+2ABcos(θ).
Rmax
The maximum resultant magnitude which occurs when θ=0∘ and cos(θ)=1, yielding R=A+B.
Rmin
The minimum resultant magnitude which occurs when θ=180∘ and cos(θ)=−1, yielding R=∣A−B∣.
Resultant for Perpendicular Vectors
The magnitude of the resultant vector when θ=90∘ and cos(θ)=0, resulting in R=A2+B2.
