Minimum 1/16th- inch tread depth; Penny: when Lincoln's head is very visible, change tires

Turn Signals

Need to be visible from 300 ft.

Horn (Car)

Should be audible from 200ft.

Windshield Light Transmission

70% (standard); Side Windows of Front Seats: 50%, plus/minus 3%

Studded Tires

Legal from November 1st - April 15th

Distracted Driving- 1st Offense in Two years (18 and up)

2 points assessed, up to $150 fine

Turning Signals

must be given whenever a turn is made to the right or left. A continuous signal must be given 100 ft. prior to alert other drivers before turning.

Distracted Driving- 2nd Offense in Two years (18 and up)

3 points assessed, up to $250 fine

Distracted Driving- 3rd Offense in Two years (18 and up)

4 points assessed; up to $500 fine and possible 90-day suspension of license

Distracted Driving fines are doubled if:

They are violated in a work zone

Route Number Signs

Must show insurance in these instances:

When law enforcement issues a traffic ticket; at all vehicle inspection stops, at all Traffic Court appearances; when driver/ vehicle owner is involved in an traffic crash that results in more than $400 in property damage.

Minimum liability insurance requirements are:

$25,000 for injury/death of one person; $50,000 for injury/death of two or people; and $25,00 for property damage in an accident

Other methods for minimum liability insurance are:

1. Post a personal bong to cover liability at the level above and, 2. Establish a $30,000 certificate of deposit with the State Treasurer or file a certificate of self-insurance when you own more than 25 motor vehicles
