THE ZERO LAW of thermodynamics
when objects are in contact heat will now unhl they reach thermodynamic equilibrium.
THE FIRST LAW of thermodynamics
Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can change from one form to another
(Also known as the law of conservation of energy)
THE SECOND LAW of thermodynamics
- Entropy (amount of disorder) of any isolated system always increases. Entropy is the measure of the randomness or disorder of a system. It is denoted by the letter S.
THE THIRD LAW of thermodynamics
-If one object reaches the absolute zero temperature (O'K-273 15°C-459.67°F), its atoms will stop moving. Absolute zero is the lowest possible temperature in the universe. Atoms will stop moving at absolute zero
Endothermic Reaction
A reaction that absorbs energy
Exothermic Reaction
A reaction that releases energy
Convection
the transfer of heat through a fluid (liquid or gas) caused by molecular motion.
Conduction
the transfer of heat or electrical current from one substance to another by direct contact
Radiation
energy that is radiated or transmited in the form of rays, waves, or particles
Enthalpy
the heat content of a system at a constant temperature, and is symbolized by the letter H
Gibbs Free Energy
tells the spontaneity of a process and is symbolized by the letter G.
