Cycle map
A diagram useful for showing a circular or repeating event or process, helping to arrange a complex sequence of events where each step depends upon the previous step being completed.
Cycle charts / Cyclical maps
Alternative names for cycle maps.
Relations diagram
A diagram that shows an event or process with multiple steps that do not always depend upon the previous step being completed; it identifies and represents relationships between causes of events.
Step 1 of creating a cycle map
List actions or steps that are relevant to a particular cycle on small pieces of paper.
Step 2 of creating a cycle map
Order your pieces of paper and then position the steps in a circle.
Step 3 of creating a cycle map
Review your cycle to see if any steps are in the wrong order, missing, or irrelevant, and make changes if necessary.
Step 4 of creating a cycle map
Write your cycle with each step placed in a box, with the boxes joined by arrows within your circle.
Biological control
A method of using one living organism to control another by interfering with its life cycle in some way.
