What are the 3 important current voltage characteristics
-The term IV characteristics refers to a graph which shows the current flowing through a component changes as the potential difference across it is increased
-linear components (Ohmic conductor) have an IV characteristic that’s a straight line
-Nonlinear components (filament lamp or diode) have a curved IV characteristic
describe how graph looks like for ohmic conductor
The current through an ohmic conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference so you get a straight line
Describe graph looks for IV Characteric of filament lamp
As the current increases the temperature of the filament increases so the resistant increases this means less current can flow per unit potential difference so the graph gets shallower so there’s a curve
Describe how graph looks for diode
IV characteristic
Current only flow through a diode in One Direction the diode has a very high resistance in the reverse direction
How ohmic conductor , filam nt lamp and diode looks like
