How does the phoneme /r/ differ in GAE and RP?
In RP only occurs before a vowel (not before a consonant or word final position). In GAE it can occur in any position. It also changes the sound of some consonants (/t/ /d/ /n/ - Bart, bird, burn) and affricates a preceding (/t/ or /d/ - try, dry)

What is the difference between phonemic and phonetic transcription?
Phonetic transcription shows how sounds are actually said, including small details like accents or how your mouth moves.
Phonemic transcription shows only the sounds that matter for meaning in a language, ignoring little details.
Think of it this way:
Phonetic = exact pronunciation
Phonemic = important sounds for meaning
