Vital Signs (VS)
Assessment that provides information on thermoregulatory, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
Cardiac Output (CO)
Amount of blood the heart pumps in one minute, calculated by heart rate (HR) times stroke volume (SV).
Pyrexia
A medical term for fever, which occurs when heat-loss mechanisms are unable to keep pace with excess heat production.
Tachycardia
An abnormally fast heart rate of greater than 100 beats per minute.
Bradycardia
A slow heart rate of less than 60 beats per minute.
Eupnea
Normal, effortless breathing with a rate of 12-20 breaths per minute for adults.
Hypoxia
Inadequate tissue oxygenation at the cellular level.
Hypoxemia
Below normal level of oxygen in the blood, specifically in the arteries.
