Absolute Music

Thematic Development

Allegro con brio
A tempo marking indicating a lively and vigorous style, often found in the first movements of symphonies. First movement is 3 shorts and a long. Second movement is a serene theme and variations with two melodic ideas. Third movement is a scherzo. Fourth movement is cyclical form.
Classical Concerto Form
Consists of three forms. First movement is long and complex combining elements of Baroque ritornello procedure and sonata allegro form. Second movement is in scherzo form. Third movement is in rondo form.

Were often set for one solo instrument (usually piano) or for duos
