What groups did the act split people into?
Blacks, Indians, Coloured (non-whites), White
What did the act do?
Allocated specific areas for each racial group that people had to live in. Each group had to live in their designated areas and couldn’t live in neighbourhoods reserved for other races.
How did the act affect peoples lives?
Reinforced segregation in each aspect of life, e.g. education, healthcare and social interaction
How did it affect some groups economically?
Non-white communities were intentionally moved to areas with limited access to economic opportunities and resources. Made it difficult for people to access quality jobs and services.
