Hercules
greatest of the Greek heroes; mortal son of Zeus
King Eurystheus
Cousin of Hercules who devised the 12 labors to purify Hercules from murder of his family
Nemean lion
Had impenetrable skin so Hercules had to break its jaw. He then skinned it with its own claw.
Hydra
Mythological nine-headed serpent which grew two heads from each severed neck. Hercules' nephew helped him kill it using a torch. It had poisonous blood.
Golden deer
Sacred to the goddess of hunting, Artemis; chased for an entire year before captured
Erymanthian Boar
Destroyed many crops, caught in a net in the snow
Augean stables
Housed 1000 horses and hadn't been cleaned for 10 years. Hercules diverted two rivers to flush it out.
Stymphalian birds
Had arrows for wings and iron beaks and talons. Hercules used a rattle to scare them then shot them with poison arrows.
Cretan Bull
A terrible monster sent by Poseidon to ravage Crete. Hercules wrestled with it then rode it back across the sea to King Eurystheus.

Hercules had to take the special red cattle from the three-bodied monster Geryon and his two-headed dog.
