Stress
Produced by life events that place a perceived demand on daily activities, causing emotional and physiologic changes in the body.
Fight-or-Flight Response
Physiologic reaction to a real or imagined threat, arising from emotions of both fear and anger.
Stressor
Any event that adds stress to your life; it is unique to the individual and often outside of their control.
Hassle
Minor daily events that can compound themselves to become stressors.
Uplifts
Planned positive activities used to balance the effects of hassles and stressors.
In-control language
Language used to replace out-of-control language in conversations to help take responsibility for oneself.
Worry process
A cycle of thought where 95% of things worried about never turn out as expected, resulting in a loss of positive energy.
Procrastination
A "worry contributor" that should be avoided as part of stress management and time management.
Self-Management
A technique involving knowing oneself, prioritizing responsibilities through goal setting, and balancing work and play.
Stress buffers
Interventions, such as exercise and proper nutrition, used to reduce the harmful effects of stress.

A nutritional lifestyle recommendation from ChooseMyPlate.gov suggested to ensure the body is supplied with vitamins and minerals during stress.
Introspective visualization
A stress buffer technique involving meditation or mental imagery to reduce stress.
Biofeedback
A stress buffer technique used to reduce the harmful effects of stress.
Study skills
Techniques such as frequent review, group study, and maintaining a positive attitude to enhance retention.
Test-taking strategy
Steps for success including scanning the entire test, answering known questions first, and wearing bright, colorful clothes.
Magnesium
One of the specific minerals identified that should be supplied to the body nutritionally during times of stress.
Vitamin B complex
A group of vitamins along with vitamin C that the body needs for nutritional support against stressors.
