Frontal Sinus
A cavity located in the frontal bone above and medial to the orbits that is part of the paranasal sinuses.
Kiesselbach’s Plexus
A rich vascular network in the anterior part of the nasal septum, most common site for nosebleeds.
Olfactory Nerve (CN I)
The cranial nerve responsible for transmitting the sense of smell from the olfactory receptors to the brain.
Paranasal Sinuses
Air-filled pockets within the cranium that communicate with the nasal cavity and lighten the skull's weight.
Hard Palate
The anterior portion of the roof of the mouth, composed of bone.
Soft Palate
The posterior part of the roof of the mouth, made up of muscle and connective tissue.
Uvula
A free projection hanging from the middle of the soft palate.
Salivary Glands
Glands in the mouth that secrete saliva to moisten food and aid digestion.
Tonsils
Masses of lymphoid tissue located behind the folds of the oropharynx.
Epistaxis
Medical term for nosebleeds.
Dysphagia
Difficulty swallowing.
Halitosis
Bad breath, often due to poor oral hygiene or other underlying causes.
Leukoedema
A benign grayish opaque area occurring on the buccal mucosa, more common in certain populations.
Aphthous Ulcers
Painful ulcers located in the mouth, often related to stress or dietary factors.
Ankyloglossia
Condition characterized by a short or tight frenulum causing restricted movement of the tongue, also known as tongue-tie.
