momentum
a vector quantity defined as the product of the mass and velocity of an object
impulse
the product of the force and the time over which the force acts on an object
Impulse-Momentum Theorum
states that the impulse on an object is equal to the change in its momentum.
Conservation of Momentum
states that the total momentum of an isolated system remains constant if no external forces act on it.
perfectly inelastic collision
a collision in which two objects stick together after colliding, conserving momentum but not kinetic energy.
elastic collision
a collision in which two objects collide and then separate, conserving both momentum and kinetic energy.
