Accommodation Sector
A tourism sector that provides temporary places to sleep along with amenities and facilities for travelers, ranging from luxury five-star hotels to basic one-star hotels.
Food and Beverage Service Sector
The sector involved in the process of preparing, presenting, and serving food and beverages to customers across establishments such as restaurants, cafés, bars, and clubs.
Attractions Sector
Facilities visited by tourists at a destination for entertainment, education, or leisure, which can be natural (e.g., beaches, mountains) or man-made (e.g., monuments, theme parks).
Transportation Sector
The sector providing the medium for actual movement of travelers via air, water, road, and rail, including airlines, car rentals, cruises, ferries, and buses.
Travel Trade Sector
A sector comprising middlemen such as travel agencies, tour operators, and destination marketing organizations (DMOs) that resell travel products and services bought from other parties.
MICE Sector
A high-spending segment of the tourism industry dedicated to planning, organizing, booking, and facilitating Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions.
Meeting
Any occasion where two or more people come together with a common agenda to discuss.
Incentive (Tourism)
A tourism component involving the rewarding of employees for their quality of work and performance.
Convention
A gathering of delegates, representatives, and members of an organization for a common purpose coupled with simultaneous activities.
Exhibition
An event that promotes new products, services, and materials to attendees who are potential customers.
Government Sector in Tourism
Elected officials and agencies responsible for creating, facilitating, and enforcing laws, planning, controlling, owning components, and promoting tourism to home and overseas markets.
Department of Tourism (DOT)
The primary planning, programming, coordinating, implementing, and regulatory Philippine government agency responsible for developing and promoting the tourism industry.
National Parks Development Committee (NPDC)
A DOT-attached agency that provides well-maintained parks for wholesome recreation and socio-cultural education of the Filipino people.
Intramuros Administration (IA)
A DOT-attached agency responsible for the orderly restoration and development of Intramuros to conform with 16th to 19th-century Philippine-Spanish architecture.
Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving (PCSSD)
A DOT-attached agency that formulates basic dive rules, regulates scuba sports and technical diving, and ensures safety standards.
Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA)

The primary government agency responsible for the conservation, management, development, and proper use of the Philippines' environment and natural resources.
National Economic Development Authority (NEDA)
The Philippines' premier socioeconomic planning body regarded as the authority in macroeconomic forecasting, policy analysis, and research.
