Positive Expressions
Words that affirm the existence of people, things, or ideas, such as 'something' or 'someone'.
Negative Expressions
Words that negate the existence of people, things, or ideas, such as 'nothing' or 'no one'.
Double Negatives
In Spanish, a double negative reinforces the negative meaning, unlike in English where it cancels out.
Personal 'a'
Used before 'alguien' and 'nadie' when they refer to people and are the direct object of the verb.
Pero vs. Sino
'Pero' means 'but', while 'sino' means 'but rather' or 'on the contrary' when the first part is negative.
Nadie
Means 'no one' and is used to indicate the absence of any person.
Nunca
Means 'never' or 'not ever'.
Algo
Means 'something'.
Nada
Means 'nothing'.
Alguien
Means 'someone'.
Nadie
Means 'no one'.
Alguno / Ninguno
Means 'some' and 'none', respectively; 'alguno' can be shortened to 'algún'.
