three faces of climate justice

Injustice 1 – Inaction means climate disproportionally burdens vulnerable populations

-If we don’t take action on climate change, the people who are already struggling or have fewer resources (like poorer countries or communities) will get hurt the most

• Injustice 2 – Uneven distribution of costs of mitigation and adaptation

-The money or effort needed for these actions isn’t shared equally. Some people or countries might pay a lot more than others, even if everyone benefits

• Injustice 3 – Uneven distribution of benefits of mitigation and adaptation

-Even when climate actions work, the benefits aren’t shared fairly.

  • Some communities or countries gain a lot, while others get very little, even if they also contributed to the problem.
