Squamous Epithelium
Epithelium characterized by cells that are flat and scale-like in shape.
Epidermis of the Skin
The layer of skin composed of keratinized stratified squamous epithelium.
Glandular Epithelium
Epithelium that is primarily secretory in function, such as that found in endocrine glands.
Pseudostratified Columnar Epithelium
Epithelial tissue lining the trachea, characterized by all cells being attached to the basement membrane but not all cells reaching free surfaces.
Epithelium of the Mouth
The mouth is lined by stratified squamous epithelium.
Epithelium of the Stomach
The stomach is lined by simple columnar epithelium.
Epithelium of the Kidney Tubules
The kidney tubules are composed of simple cuboidal epithelium.
Epithelium of the Urinary Bladder
The urinary bladder is lined by transitional epithelium.
Basement Membrane
A structural feature present in epithelial tissues; claiming epithelial tissue lacks a basement membrane is false.
