Frequency

Urgency

Nocturia
Awakening during the night because of the need to urinate.
Dysuria
Pain or burning during urination.
Hematuria
Blood in the urine.
Hesitancy
Straining or having trouble starting the urine stream.
Nocturnal enuresis
Involuntary urination at night after age 5 to 6 years.
Phimosis
Narrowed opening of prepuce so cannot retract the foreskin.

Painful constriction of the glans of the penis by retracted foreskin.

Ventral location of urethral meatus (under).
Epispadias
Dorsal location of urethral meatus (on top).
Cryptorchidism
Undescended testes.
Hydrocele
Fluid in the scrotum.

Kidney stones.
Reducible hernia
Contents will return to the abdominal cavity by lying down or gentle pressure.
Incarcerated hernia
Herniated bowel cannot be returned to the abdominal cavity.
Strangulated hernia
Blood supply to hernia is shut off accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and tenderness.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
Benign enlargement of the prostate.
Dyschezia
Pain with bowel movement.
Melena
Black, tarry or bloody stools.
Steatorrhea
Excessive fat in stools.
Clay colored stools
Indicates an absence of bile pigment.
Encopresis
Persistent passing of stools into clothing of a child older than four years.
Pilonidal cyst or sinus
A hair-containing cyst or sinus in the midline over the coccyx or lower sacrum.
Fissure
Longitudinal tear in the superficial mucosa at the anal margin.
Female genital mutilation slash cutting (FGM/C)
Cultural procedure involving the alteration or injury of the female genitalia.
Dysmenorrhea
Pain or cramps before or during the menstrual period.

Cessation of menstruation.
Urge incontinence
Strong urge to urinate that cannot be controlled.

Involuntary urine loss with physical strain, such as running, sneezing, or coughing.
