botanical garden
an establishment where plants are grown for scientific study and display to the public.
aquarium
1 : a container (such as a glass tank) or an artificial pond in which living aquatic animals or plants are kept. 2 : an establishment where aquatic organisms are kept and exhibited.
market
a regular gathering of people for the purchase and sale of provisions, livestock, and other commodities.
theme park
an amusement park with a unifying setting or idea.
Mosque
a Muslim place of worship.
temple
a building devoted to the worship of a god or gods.
castle
a large building, typically of the medieval period, fortified against attack with thick walls, battlements, towers, and in many cases a moat.
cathedral
the principal church of a diocese, with which the bishop is officially associated.
fountain
an ornamental structure in a pool or lake from which one or more jets of water are pumped into the air.
harbour
a place on the coast where ships may moor in shelter, especially one protected from rough water by piers, jetties, and other artificial structures.
museum
a building in which objects of historical, scientific, artistic, or cultural interest are stored and exhibited.
national park
an area of countryside, or occasionally sea or fresh water, protected by the state for the enjoyment of the general public or the preservation of wildlife.
palace
a large and impressive building forming the official residence of a ruler, pope, archbishop.
atmospheric
remote
situated far from the main centres of population; distant.
spectacular
beautiful in a dramatic and eye-catching way.
investigative journalism
The unveiling of matters that are concealed either deliberately by someone in a position of power, or accidentally, behind a chaotic mass of facts and circumstances - and the analysis and exposure of all relevant facts to the public.
mentally ill
Mental Illness… refers collectively to all diagnosable mental disorders — health conditions involving significant changes in thinking, emotion and/or behavior.
baggage carousel
a device, generally at an airport, that delivers checked luggage to the passengers at the baggage reclaim area at their final destination.
aisle seat
a seat on or next to an aisle.
full board
provision of accommodation and all meals at a hotel or guest house.
half board
includes two meals. One of them is breakfast. The other is lunch or dinner. Dinner is most common.
hitch-hike
to travel by securing free rides from passing vehicle.
charity shop
a shop where second-hand goods are sold to raise money for a charity.
Deli
Short for "delicatessen", which is a German word (borrowed from France), meaning "delicacies." Originally used to refer to the food itself, it began to be used to describe the stores selling the food.
mall
a large enclosed shopping area from which traffic is excluded.
special offer
a product that is being sold for less than its usual price or the act of selling something for less than the usual price.
bargain
a thing bought or offered for sale much more cheaply than is usual or expected.
table manners
behaviour that is conventionally required while eating at table.
Entrepreneur
a person who sets up a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit.
CEO (Chief Executive Officer)
the highest-ranking person in a company or other institution, ultimately responsible for taking managerial decisions.
computer hard drive
one kind of technology that stores the operating system, applications, and data files such a documents, pictures and music that your computer uses.
bitcoin
a digital currency which operates free of any central control or the oversight of banks or governments.
cloud storage
a cloud computing model that stores data on the Internet through a cloud computing provider who manages and operates data storage as a service.
arson
the criminal act of deliberately setting fire to property.
burglary
illegal entry of a building with intent to commit a crime, especially theft.
looter
a person who steals goods, typically during a war or riot.
mugger
a person who attacks and robs another in a public place.
shoplifting
the action of stealing goods from a shop while pretending to be a customer.
smuggling
the illegal movement of goods into or out of a country.
vandalism
action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property.
culprit
a person who is responsible for a crime or other misdeed.
CCTV footage
a television system in which video signals are transmitted from one or more cameras by cable to a set of monitors, used especially for security purposes.
fugitive
a person who has escaped from captivity or is in hiding.
balaclava
a close-fitting garment covering the whole head and neck except for parts of the face, typically made of wool.
fibre-optic
consisting of or using thin flexible fibres with a glass core through which light signals can be sent with very little loss of strength.
faulty item
not working or made correctly; having defects.
credit note
