Electrical connection
The intentional joining of two conductors allowing current to flow reliably.
Low-resistance path

Heating due to resistance
Calculated by Ploss=I2×R; represents power lost as heat due to resistance.
Characteristics of a good connection
Low contact resistance, repeatable quality, mechanically secure, environmentally robust, and appropriate for the signal type.
Cold solder joint
A solder joint that did not properly wet the pad or lead, often due to inadequate heat or contamination.
Corrosion and fretting

A voltage regulator that efficiently converts one voltage to another using high-frequency switches.
