Craft Essay
An essay that discusses matters of creative construction including writing strategies, genre elements, and contextual influences.
Introduction
The opening paragraph of an essay, aimed at establishing curiosity and catching the reader's attention.
Thesis Statement
A statement that summarizes the main point or claim of the essay.
Body Paragraphs
Sections of the essay that present arguments, evidence, or topics supporting the thesis, each beginning with a topic sentence.
Concluding Sentence
The last sentence of a paragraph that summarizes the points made in the body paragraph.
Conclusion
A section that wraps up the essay, summarizing the main ideas without introducing new information.
Context
The background, environment, or setting within which a work of writing is situated.
Literary Context
Relates to the form a passage takes and the surrounding words, sentences, and paragraphs.
Sociopolitical Context
The overlap of social and political factors influencing a literary text.
Supporting Sentence
