What are the two ways tissue respons to injury?

Inflammation: is a non-specific, local response activated in the underlying connective tissue proper.

immune response: takes longer and is highly specific. It destroys particular infectious microorganisms and foreign molecules.

Edema

Medical term for swelling caused by excess fluid trapped in your body's tissue

Edema functions

Helps dilute toxin secreted by bacteria.

Brings in oxygen, nutrients from blood.

Brings in antibodies from the blood to fight infection.

Repair has two stages

Regeneration and fibrosis

Regeneration

The replacement of destroyed tissue of the same kind.

Fibrosis

Involves the proliferation of fibrous of connective tissue called scar tissue.

Organization

It's the process by which the clot is replaced by granulation.

Granulation tisue: is a delicate pink tissue made of several elements.
