Language (Henry Gleason)
A systematic framework of spoken sounds arranged in an arbitrary manner to be used by humans for communication.
Systematic Framework
A characteristic of language meaning it follows specific rules or systems, such as grammar and sentence construction.
Spoken Sound
The primary characteristic of language where sounds are created through the mechanism of speech to represent ideas and messages.
Language Death
Occurs when a language is no longer used, the linguistic community disappears, or it is replaced by new words or migrant languages.
Idyolek
An individual's personal style of using language and expressing themselves, such as the unique catchphrases of famous media personalities.
Dayalek
A variety of language created based on geographic location, used by people in a particular region or province.
Sosyolek / Sosyalek
A temporary language variety used by a specific social group, such as 'conyo' or street slang.
Etnolek
Language varieties derived from the words of ethnolinguistic groups or specific ethnic tribes.
Ekolek
Language variety commonly used inside the home, often originating from children or elders.
Pidgin
Known as the "language of no one," it has no formal structure and is used by people from different backgrounds trying to communicate.
Creole
A language that started as a pidgin but became a personal language through the mixing of words from different places.
Register
Specialized language used in a particular field or domain, categorized by Field (Larangan), Mode (Modo), and Tenor.
Whip
A culinary term meaning to beat or whisk ingredients, usually with a mixer or wire whisk.
Soft Peaks
A stage in beating egg whites where the foam is pointed but soft, unstable, and easily deflated.
Code
A programming term referring to instructions written in various programming languages.
Debugger
A specific computer program used to test and find errors in other programs.
Waxing
A beauty service term for removing body hair using wax.
Threading
A beauty service term for hair removal, specifically for eyebrows, using a thread.
Hair Spa
A hair and scalp treatment using moisturizers to maintain hair health.
Technical-Vocational Writing
Written communication in fields involving specialized vocabulary like science, engineering, technology, and health sciences.
Objectivity
A key characteristic of technical writing that delivers accurate information without intending to arouse emotion.
Feasibility Study
A form of technical-vocational writing used to analyze if a project or system is viable.
Narrative Report
One of the forms of technical-vocational writing used to document events or progress.
Larangan (Field)
A type of Register that refers to the specialized vocabulary associated with the user's specific field or profession.
