Is water good at dissolving hydrophobic molecules? Why or why not?
No. Hydrophobic molecules are repelled by water. In terms of polarity, nonpolar molecules, which are hydrophobic, do not have regions of positive or negative charges, so they cannot connect to the water molecules, who have sections that are either positively or negatively charged. Due to that, hydrophobic molecules orient themselves in a way that minimizes contact with water molecules.
