Synthesis
Characterized By 2 or more elements, A+B=AB
Decomposition
Opposite of synthesis and one compound breaks apart into two or more pieces, AB= A+B
Combustion
Anything that burns into hydrocarbon, produces CO2 and H2O
Single displacement
One lone element replaces an element in a compound A+BX=AX+B
Double displacement
Both compounds switch ions, AX + BY = AY + BX
Acid Base reactions
An acid and a base neutralize each other to make water and a salt. HA + BOH = H2O + BA
Na + Cl2 = NaCl or + + - - = + -
This is Synthesis
H2O = H2+O2
This is Decomposition
CH4+2O2 = CO2 + H2O
