Abject
Used to describe negative things and heighten the negativity. (Ex: Having lost his wife, the young man fell into abject sadness.)
Abode
A place where people live. (Ex: Welcome to my humble abode.)
Accentuate
To emphasize. (Ex: Seasoning accentuates the flavor of food.)
Admonition
The scolding you might receive if you have done something wrong. (Ex: The little girl hung her head and waited for the admonition she was sure she’d receive from her mom.)
Affluent
To be very well off financially. (Ex: He grew up in an affluent home.)
Aggrandize
To make something grander (Ex: She had aggrandized the image in her head, and when she saw it in real life, she was disappointed.)
Aggregate
Noun: the whole, not the parts. Verb: to build up the parts to create a whole. (Ex: I aggregated all the available data to present to my boss.)
