Division

Splitting a whole into equal sized groups

Divisor

The number you are dividing by (Size in groups)

Dividend

The number being divided (the whole)

Fraction

A number that represents a part of a whole

GCF (Greatest Common Factor)

The greatest common factor of two whole numbers that are not both zero, that are multiplied together to make the product.

LCM (Lowest Common Multiple)

Two whole numbers that is the smallest whole number (NOT zero) that is a multiple of both numbers.

Reciprocal

The reciprocal of a number is 1 divided by that number. Inverting a fraction! (Flip it!)

Product

The answer to a multiplication problem

Quotient

The answer to a division problem

Numerator

The top part of a fraction, representing the number of parts taken from the whole.

Denominator

The bottom part of a fraction, representing the total number of equal parts in the whole.

Decimal

A number that is expressed in place value, containing a decimal point to represent values less than one.

Mixed Number

The combination of a whole number and a proper fraction.

Improper Fraction

A fraction where the numerator is greater than or equal to the denominator.
