Human Resource Management (HRM)
The policies and practices involved in carrying out the people or human resource aspects of a management position, including recruiting, screening, training, rewarding, and appraising.
Line Manager
A manager who is authorized to direct the work of subordinates and is responsible for accomplishing the organization’s tasks.
Staff Manager
A manager who assists and advises line managers.
Job Analysis
The process of determining the nature of each employee’s job.
Employee Advocacy
HR's responsibility to represent the interests of employees within the framework of its obligation to senior management.
Strategic Human Resource Management
The linking of HRM with strategic goals and objectives to improve business performance and develop cultures that foster innovation and flexibility.
SWOT Analysis
A tool used to compile and organize the identification of a company's Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.

A measure of the HR function’s effectiveness and efficiency in producing employee behaviors needed to achieve the company’s strategic goals.

A system that includes practices fostering a skilled workforce, job enrichment, team-based organizations, and improved employee development.
Employee Commitment
The emotional and psychological attachment an employee has towards their organization.
