Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac
French chemist and physicist who pioneered investigations into the behaviour of gases, established new techniques for analysis, and made notable advances in applied chemistry.
Gay-Lussac’s Law
A law stating that the pressure exerted by a gas is directly related to the Kelvin temperature when volume and amount are constant.

Pressure and Temperature Relationship
When the Kelvin temperature of a gas doubles at constant volume and amount of gas, the pressure also doubles.
Vapor
Formed when liquid molecules with sufficient kinetic energy break away from the surface of a liquid.
Vapor Pressure
The pressure created in a closed container when vapor accumulates after liquid molecules evaporate.
Boiling Point
The temperature at which the vapor pressure of a liquid becomes equal to the external pressure.
Celsius to Kelvin Conversion
Temperature in Kelvin is calculated by adding 273 to the temperature in Celsius (∘C+273=K).
